This week saw the passing of Doctor Stephen Hawking. Stephen Hawking rose to prominence as a brilliant theoretical physicist in the mid-1960's while studying at University College in Oxford. He won numerous accolades, a fellowship, and honorary positions throughout his life. Mr. Hawking contracted ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, during his graduate studies, but despite being given a life expectancy of two years, Hawking proved resilient and lived a long life with his wife and children.

Co-written by Leonard Mlodinow, The Grand Design discusses some of the deeper questions in physics, such as why we exist, why the universe exists, and why we have certain rules in physics as opposed to others. Hawking and his peers ultimately seek to answer what they call "Grand Unified Field Theories."
Are you stumbled by A Brief History of Time? Mr. Hawking released a condensed version of his best-seller. Not only was Stephen a proponent of science, but also in disseminating scientific information to the public in as painless a way as possible.
