This month we highlight two series of books investigating Louisiana architecture. Louisiana culture is woven from many different threads, and our architectural traditions reflect that legacy. French, Caribbean, Spanish, Anglo-American and other influences have shaped the way Louisianians have constructed their homes, towns, and cities. The Louisiana Architecture series, published by University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press, follows the development of the state's building traditions through the 18th and 19th centuries. The ongoing New Orleans Architecture series, from Friends of the Cabildo, looks at New Orleans neighborhood by neighborhood. These volumes are richly illustrated with sketches and photographs, giving the reader a comprehensive look at Louisiana’s architectural heritage.
