A certain Monday morning in January is always very exciting for your children's librarians. That's when the annual Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) announces the winners of the Newbery, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and other awards for children's books and materials. It's like the Oscars, except it is usually held early in the morning!
ALSC has a great website with links to the 2017 award winners, a webcast of the awards announcement, and a webcast of the acceptance speeches at the American Library Association Annual Conference. You can also find lists of each of the award winners, going back to the first year each award was given.
