Anthony Stephan Orlando was born in Louisiana and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was drafted into the service in 1942 and served until 1945 with the ranking of Technician Five Corporal. As part of the 712th Tank Battalion, 3rd Army, he traveled to Fort Benning, Georgia; Tennessee; Kentucky; Scotland; England; France; Germany; Czechoslovakia; Russia; and the European Theater. While serving in the Army, T5 CPL Orlando paticipated in the following operations/campaigns: Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes, Rhineland, Operation Overlord (D-Day Normandy Invasion), Saint-Lô, Saar, Bastogne.
