This summer there is so much to do at the library!  We will have a Reading Challenge, BINGO Challenge, and Programs for the whole family!

KIDS SUMMER READING CHALLENGE 2024 

WHO: Kids ages 0 to 11 

WHEN: May 23rd through July 27th 

WHAT: This summer there are two ways to participate in the Kids Summer Reading Challenge: 

• Reading Adventure:  Read for 720 minutes. That might seem like a lot but you have 9 weeks to do it.
• BINGO Adventure:  Complete 5 activities in a row for a BINGO.  You can also complete all the activities for a BINGO Adventure Blackout. 

WHERE: Online in our Beanstack App or on a paper log available at your favorite library branch. 

HOW: The best part of the Challenge is that you get to choose which way you participate: Reading Adventure, BINGO Adventure, or BOTH!   

• Reading Adventure: Log the time you spend reading in 15-minute increments.  You can do it each day or you can save it up and log it weekly (or even monthly). 
• BINGO Adventure: Complete activities on your BINGO card.  Activities include attending events, reading, doing things with friends and family, and submitting a book review!  Complete 5 activities in a row and earn a BINGO. Complete the whole card for a BINGO Blackout. 
• You get to choose what you read: fiction, nonfiction, picture books, graphic novels, comics, or magazines. You can also listen to audiobooks or have someone else read to you. If you read to someone else, the time counts for both of you! 
• You can use the same reading time to complete the Reading Adventure and the BINGO Adventure.

WHY: It is FUN and there are PRIZES!!! 

• REGISTRATION PRIZE:  You receive a Reading Buddy Stuffed Animal. You will receive only one Reading Buddy per summer.  The Registration Prize is for both the Reading Adventure and the BINGO Adventure. 
• COMPLETION PRIZE: 
  • You have 3 opportunities to earn prizes:. 
    • Reading Adventure - Read for 720 minutes 
    • BINGO Adventure - Complete 5 BINGO activities in a row 
    • BINGO Adventure Blackout - Complete all the BINGO activities for a Blackout  
  • You will earn 3 Prizes for each challenge you complete:
    • Completion Certificate
    • An Animal Squish Toy OR a themed Rubber Duck
    • An entry into a drawing for a LEGO set. Winners will be announced on August 1st! 

All prizes are available at any library branch. 

KIDS SUMMER READING EVENTS

WHO: Kids ages 0-11 and their grownups.

WHAT: This summer will be filled with 6 weeks of fun-tastic programs. Events will include Storytime, Play Date, Story ABC, StoryTots, Storycraft, StoryWalks®, KIDS Club (special programs for ages 8 to 11 and 5 to 7), Family Fun Programs, Special Guests and so much more!

WHERE: Each of our 12 branches will have programs for kids.

WHEN: June 3-July 13

WHY: There will be fun-filled events that everyone can enjoy!  If you can’t make it to any of our events, we still have fun activities that you can do any time. From guessing jars to scavenger hunts, there is always something fun to do!
