NAVY 2nd Class Petty Officer Radio Technician Bertram Groene was born in Mount Pleasant, Ohio in 1923. After enlisting in the Navy in 1942, he participated in the latter part of the Tunisian campaign and in the invasion of Sicily during World War II.
