The Louisiana Master Gardeners are partnering with the St. Tammany Parish Library for the third year in a row to host a spring garden fest. The theme this year is “Geaux Native” which focuses on all of the wonderful and plentiful plants we have here in Southeast Louisiana. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 on the back grounds of the Covington Library, 310 W. 21st Avenue.
Guest speakers include:
- Keith Villere talking about landscaping with native plants from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Eric and Jenny Hunter of La Provence will have a cooking demo from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
- Nick Delisi from St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Abatement District will present from 1 to 2 p.m.
Other activities will include:
- Keyhole gardening demonstration
- Make-and-take butterfly feeders for children
- Composting
- A take-home project for adults
- Food and drink samplings
- Local plant vendor selling native plants
- West Friends of the Library garden books sale
It will be a fun-filled and educational day for the whole family!
