I see London, I see France, it’s time to donate underpants! That’s right; National Underwear Day is August 5. To celebrate, the St. Tammany Parish Library is hosting its second annual Underwear Fair from Monday, July 30, to Saturday, August 4. During these dates, a few branch libraries will be accepting donations of new, unopened packages of boys’ and girls’ underwear in children’s sizes 4-16.
All underwear collected will be given to nearby public elementary schools for distribution to students due to accidents and emergencies. Like the beloved superheroes Captain Underpants and Superman, we know the importance of underwear!
In appreciation of your generous donation, the library will waive $1.00 in library fines for each package of underwear donated. Additionally, Miss Gigi at the Causeway branch will be hosting a special Underwear Fair Family Storytime from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3. Don’t miss out, because this fun-filled event will feature underwear themed books, songs, crafts, and games! At the South Slidell Branch, Miss Alexis will be hosting a Captain Underpants Crafternoon featuring the movie (PG) from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 3.
So if you want to be a superhero this National Underwear Day, you don’t need to wear your underwear on the outside of your pants. Instead, donate to the Underwear Fair from July 30 to August 4. Underwear donations will be accepted at the Causeway, Madisonville, Mandeville, Slidell, and South Slidell libraries. Tra-La-La!
