Can’t make it to the Comic Con in New Orleans this January? Looking for more convention fun? Want to introduce fan conventions to young kids? Come to Library Con where children, teens, families and adults are invited to the St. Tammany Parish Library’s fifth annual Library Con, a free all-fandoms convention from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, at the Madisonville Library! Fans of all pop culture fandoms such as gaming, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Dr. Who, comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime, Pokémon, cosplay, Lego, super heroes, and anything else are invited. This year our theme is “Musical Edition” so costumes from favorite musicals are encouraged. However, all family friendly cosplay is welcome.
Everyone will show off their costumes at a parade at 3:30 p.m. Our featured events include learning choreography from Hamilton, an excerpt from Pinkalicious performed by Slidell Little Theater, and Broadway and Disney musical sing-a-long. Star Wars characters will be available for photo ops. We will also have a photo booth, crafts, games, Pokémon card games, free comics, a fan art show, and snow! Information and a submission form to enter Fan Art are available here.
The program is free and open to the public. Children ages 9 and under may not be left unattended at any St. Tammany Parish Library. Library Con is a family friendly event. Library staff reserves the right to turn away costumes and fan art that are not appropriate.
