National Library Week starts April 7 and in celebration, the Library will be holding Food for Fines from April 8 through April 20.
Similar to past celebrations, the Library will be accepting one nonperishable food item for $1 off late fees, fines and lost item fees.
Food items will be donated to several local food banks. In addition to food bank donations, the Library will also be accepting canned pet food. Pet food will be donated to the Department of Animal Services to supply their public pet food pantry.
All donations will be credited the same and cannot be used as credit for future fines. Lost your library card? This time is also a perfect time to request a replacement card.
During Food for Fines, all replacement card fees are also waived, no donation is required. Food for Fines has become a tradition at the Library, encouraging patrons who have been inactive to revisit branches while also promoting charitable giving to local community agencies.
