To assist with recovery efforts, St. Tammany Parish Library (STPL) will waive all new fines and fees through Sept. 28. Late fees will not accrue and patrons will not be charged for printer and fax machine fees. In addition, the cost of any library items that were lost or damaged from Hurricane Francine will be waived.
STPL will reopen offices and most branches on Friday, Sept. 13 for regular business hours. The Madisonville Branch (1123 Main St.) has a scheduled delayed reopening of 1 p.m. on Friday dependent on electrical repairs. The Lacombe Branch (28027 Hwy. 190) does not have a scheduled reopen date at this time. Roof damage caused by a fallen tree is currently being assessed for repairs. Patrons will still be able to access Wi-Fi from all branch parking lots from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
As part of STPL’s Food for Fines program during Library Card Sign-Up Month, non-perishable food items will continue to be accepted at branches until Sept. 30. Donations will be disbursed to local food banks in St. Tammany Parish in October. If any resident would like to donate, any open branch will accept these donations. Past fines are waived, $1 per every 1 item donated. Dry and canned pet food items are also accepted and will be donated to St. Tammany Parish Government Animal Services’ Public Pet Food Pantry for struggling pet owners.
