Celebrating TeenTober

St. Tammany Parish Library soon hosts the 6th annual TeenTober

Throughout October, the St. Tammany Parish Library will host its 6th annual “TeenTober,” spotlighting the teen community and encouraging them to find a passion for reading. Special events and programs will be held at the library branches promoting the free resources and activities available to teens all year round.

This year the STPL Teen Department will present teens with socially connected, STREAM (Science/Technology/Reading/Engineering/Art/Math) themed events:

Books and Reading:

  • Sign up for the free monthly Teen Book Tote Subscription Service on the website
  • Attend the AniManga Book Club
  • Join the 100 Books Before Graduation Reading Challenge

Gaming/Science/Tech:

  • Registration now open for popular D&D and Video gaming events
  • Attend the Adventures in DNA workshop presented by the STPL Genealogy Librarian
  • Attend the "Dangers of Vaping" workshop during Red Ribbon Week

Arts and Crafting:

  • The teen librarians are hosting October-themed DIY Design Labs and Snack Crew Cooking Club
  • "Library" Era Paint Party for Taylor Swift fans
  • Dressing in costume for Teen Spooktacular Events

Library Services:

  • Visit the teen librarians at the College and Career Expos presented by STPSB or visit them at the library and learn about free services like HomeworkLA (offers free and online tutoring), Career One Stop, LA Driving Tests, and downloadable book apps
  • Earn volunteer service hours at our TVC (Teen Volunteer Council) events held throughout the month at different locations

The St. Tammany Parish Library wants to make sure that teens have access to all books and services. To ensure this, the Library celebrates TeenTober with "Teen Amnesty Month," where any teen ages 12 to 17 who has lost their library card may have it replaced for free, and/or return overdue books checked out on their card and have the overdue fines waived.
