It's that wonderful and exciting time of year again, when the American Library Association (ALA) announces its annual Youth Media Award Winners. Librarians across the country and the world wait each year to see which authors and illustrators of works for children and young adults will win these prestigious awards. The awards include the John Newbery Medal for outstanding children's literature, the Randolph Caldecott medal for the best picture book, and the Coretta Scott King award which recognizes an African American author and illustrator, among others. For a full list of this year's awards, winners, and honorees, please check out the ALA's press release at this link! While the library owns many of the books on this list, there are a few we don't have quite yet. But don't worry, we will be getting copies of all of these outstanding children's books to ensure everyone has an opportunity to share and enjoy them!
